Some things are harder to talk about than others. Things like diseases, illness and disabilities. But most of us are confronted with it one way or another. Cancer for example is a disease that made its way into the lives of many of us. It’s almost safe to say that we are all affected by this disease. Knowing someone or even being someone who has a form of cancer is not a rare thing in our society anymore. But it’s hard to talk about. To talk about its consequences. The direct medical consequences it has on someones life, quality of life and life expectancy. But also to talk about the affects it has on family and friends who worry, help around the house and often get into a care taker position. It takes its toll for sure.
It is so important for the patients and their families to receive proper care. Having doctors they feel safe and comfortable with are one of the most important things besides the actual treatment of course. The right treatment will determine whether or not you or your loved one gets to live or at will at least give you more time together.
A lot of us are fortunate enough to be able to worry about the recovery time during and after treatment. Yes, fortunate. Because it means there is a treatment plan ready. And that treatment including the right medicine is available to you or your loved one. Unfortunately many people are not that fortunate. They don’t have access to medical care and medicines. Many factors decide whether or not someone gets access to proper treatment. People who live in poor areas, live in poverty, who live in areas where there is conflict or war are just many of the people who won’t be able to get the medical attention they need. Which often is a matter of life and death.
We are aware of this and feel everyone deserves the same access to medicines and medical care. That’s why we try to donate as much medicines for treatment of various diseases and illnesses as we can. This time we were able to donate 10 boxes of cancer medicine for chemo treatments to the Azadi Hospital in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan. The doctors who work in this hospital will make sure that the treatments will go to patients who otherwise wont receive it. The doctors and management of the hospital showed their gratitude and thanked us but we are just happy to help and bring hope to those who need it most.
