Have you ever dreamed of wanting to achieve something really great? Osama Muhammed Khalaf does, he wants to be a great football player, the likes of Neymar or Messi.
He is 13 years old and has 7 sisters and 5 brothers, they lived a peaceful, happy life in Mosul until three years ago when they were forced to flee from ISIS. They left without anything, but finally arrived at Harsham Refugee Camp where they have been living for the past two years.
The Mosul Region is still not fully liberated and even young Osama knows his home has been completely destroyed. While he told Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation that he wants his region to be liberated and wishes to go back home, he also said he knows his family must stay here because “home” is not safe and “there is nothing left to go back to.”
He remembers when ISIS besieged them and he was so afraid. Living in Harsham Camp is difficult, not enough food and the water he says, “it’s not clear enough” but says Osama, “we have a school and I attend daily.” He is happy for the football program that Bring Hope brought to the camp so they have a playground and he loves to play football, he dreams of being a great player.
He is happy for the help everyone gives them, the Barzani Charity Foundation and Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation, but it’s not enough he says. He asks that we keep supporting them and give them enough to treat illness, have clothes and food.
He hopes their life will change, we hope so too. We met Osama 13 June 2017 at Harsham Camp while delivering humanitarian aid.
