Sulaymania Emergency Hospital Receives Medicine Donation

Iraqi Kurdistan has been the recipient of thousands of civilians fleeing from war-torn areas, including internally displaced people from areas such as Mosul and others fleeing from conflict and crisis areas like Syria. Sulaymania is one of the major cities in both Iraqi Kurdistan and Iraq, situated 385 km north of Baghdad and 198 km northeast of Erbil. It has only one emergency hospital and therefore, it receives an overload of patients. Most of the patients are poor and unable to pay for services. Then there is the economic pressure it experiences because of the unique crisis of migratory influx caused by these on-going conflicts.

One extremely problematic area affecting medical facilities is their inability to obtain medicines to treat the patients they serve. Sulaymania Emergency Hospital receives patients from Kirkuk province as well as those soldiers from the front-line of fighting who have been wounded in battle against ISIS. The Kurdistan government is unable to supply medicines to the health facilities to the extent required to treat the volume of patients and the Iraq government has not supplied funding for quite some time.

Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation has stepped up to fill this void in service abilities by providing much needed medicines and medical equipment to area hospitals and health facilities, including those located in refugee camps throughout the Kurdistan area. On 21 August 2017, Bring Hope supplied the Sulaymania Emergency Hospital with a full load of medicines and medical equipment to ease their burden. To help, see bringhope.info
