Strained Health Systems Seek Support

In June 2017 the USAID acting Administrator released a statement on World Refugee Day stating, “We remain deeply concerned by the more than 22 million refugees forced from their homes by conflict and persecution.” He continued to describe the tragic fact that half these refugees are children and how 41 million people are internally displaced within their own borders. This is the largest humanitarian crisis of forced displacement of people since World War ll.

Given these sad realities, it is no wonder the health directors in Iraqi Kurdistan reach out to humanitarian agencies for assistance when medicines that provide life-saving support and needed relief for health conditions are in short supply and demand outweighs supply. Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation is one such agency sourcing and providing assistance in obtaining these medicines and today 29 November 2017, we provide 77 cartons of different types of medication to the Soran Health Director. The hospital here is under continuous pressure to provide help and relief to a wide and varying population. We have distributed medication to them many times previously and will continue to do so as the need requires. Today’s delivery is worth approximately $111,000.
