Shortage of Medications Brings Plea for Help

As staff and volunteers unload the 75 cartons of medicines and medical equipment delivered to Rizgary Hospital in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan on 28 November 2017, the hospital’s manager pleads for more help. As the biggest hospital in Iraqi Kurdistan at 500 beds, Rizgary serves a wide patient base that includes residents of Erbil and refugees from surrounding camps, both internally displaced people as well as others from outside Iraq who fled war and conflict zones. The humanitarian aid delivered today was worth approximately $108,000.

A physician and regional hospital manager, the drugs and medical equipment that arrived today is extremely helpful as he states, “we are currently under a severe crisis because of shortage of drug supply from Baghdad and the economic crisis of Kurdistan…I’d like to see more support and ask for anesthesia and chemotherapy drugs, disposables, IV fluids” saying these drugs are in very short supply, if available at all.

Rizgary Hospital serves a large number of patients on a daily basis and is desperately seeking help to adequately care for them. To be part of this amazing journey, see bringhope.info.
