On the Streets of Dashti Basht

Every person on this earth endures challenges, no one is exempt from life tragedies, they just come in different ways, I have been told the amount of hardship given is related to how strong people are and how much they can bear. I do know that when life goes from normal to homeless these tragedies are very, very difficult to overcome.

On 19 October 2017 Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation visited with and brought donations to those people who escaped from Kirkuk and now live on the streets of Dashti Bhasht. Children play with stones and families sleep on the ground, no one knows about a “future.” These are people who left their homes, children who left their schools and friends…all running for safety from the Popular Craw Army. These families have resorted to fighting over a piece of bread. Hundreds of people live here, on the streets, still in fear. Many of them left their own shops. There is no place here for religious sectarianism. Every person is “just existing” the best they can.

Bring Hope came with 200 packages containing blankets and pillows, 13 cartons of glasses, dishes and other kitchenware. This will put only a small dent in what is needed here, but it places a big heart of hope that there are people out there who know and who care about what they have gone through, what they continue to go through and how hard rebuilding their future will be. To help provide the heart of hope to these or others, see bringhope.info.
